Our Educational Philosophy
At We Excel Freedom Learners (WEFL), we believe education is about preparing children for life.Â

To us, freedom in learning means giving children the opportunity to ask meaningful questions, think independently, develop practical skills, express their creativity, and discover the confidence to become lifelong learners.Â

We believe children are naturally curious and learn best when they are encouraged to explore new ideas, create with confidence, and develop practical skills that extend beyond the classroom. Learning should inspire wonder, build character, strengthen critical thinking, and help children discover both themselves and the world around them.Â

Our educational approach encourages children to make connections across subjects rather than viewing knowledge as separate pieces. Through discussion, investigation, creativity , and hands-on experiences, students develop a deeper understanding of the world and their place within it.Â

We believe education should also cultivate compassion, responsibility, and community. Children learn not only by reading and studying, but by creating, serving, solving problems, caring for others, and contributing positively, to their families and communities.Â

As a supplemental homeschool community, WEFL partners with families by providing enriching educational, experiences while honoring parents as their children's primary educators,. Together, we strive to create a welcoming learning environment where every child is encouraged to grow academically, creatively, socially, and personally.Â

Our hope is that every learner leaves WEFL with the confidence to think independently, the courage to ask thoughtful questions, the skills to solve real-world problems, and a lifelong love of learning.Â

The Annual Thriving Up Ceremony: Where WEFL Comes Together
The Thriving Up Ceremony is WEFL’s annual in-person celebration, where families come together to honor each learner’s growth, accomplishments, and journey throughout the school year.
This year, we celebrated our first annual Thriving Up Ceremony in South Carolina’s Lowcountry. Families stayed in Beaufort, explored St. Helena Island, visited the Penn Center and Oyotunji African Kingdom, and enjoyed fellowship, while continuing to learn through shared experiences.
Each year, the Thriving Up Ceremony will be held in a different location, giving families the opportunity to celebrate, explore, and learn together in new places.

Parent Reflections
" I don't have the words to express the gratitude and joy I feel from our trip. I am so grateful for your commitment and every ounce of work you put into the Thriving Up Ceremony. I am proud to be part of this homeschool community and proud to call you a friend-our framily. Thank you for creating such a meaningful experience for our children and families."
S. Williams, WEFL Parent
"Every teacher has something
special about them, like a talent.
But YOU have an amazing
superpower to help us have the
freedom to laugh and learn.
Your superpower is special because you help us
through tricky problems and make sure we don’t
overthink with essay prep questions. But more
importantly, you help us know that we should always
have a growth mindset when learning something new!"
